The Challenge

Okay, Black Belt Mama has issued the challenge:

"The challenge is simple. I am challenging each and every one of my readers, and anyone else who might be interested, to change at least one thing in their life to improve their physical fitness. "

In light of my last post, my goal is two-fold.

#1 - Improve my sparring. This seems like a rather broad goal, but my game plan is to choose sparring every time we are given an option for activities in class. I absolutely hate sparring, and as a general rule avoid it every opportunity I get. Making the conscious decision to spar instead of running kata is going to helpmy performance in the ring.

#2 - Push-ups every day. My upper body strength is next to non-existant. I struggle just pushing out 20 in class, and by the time I test for my blackbelt, I'll have to be able to pump out 50. Granted, I have a year to do it, but if I don't start now, I never will.

Cool blog! Our goals are very similar-must be that green belt syndrome! I'm glad you're participating and I'm happy to have been your inspiration!

Ug, I hate sparring too. It was "fun" in teh beginning, but then I started having to go up against bigger, tougher kids and I started hating it more and more.

Sparring is a very awkward thing to do at first, but time, effort, and experience will help you.

Keep on training.
