mixed reviews

Well, I went back to class last night. I kind of missed staying home and lazing about, but it was good to be back.

It amazed me how easily I got through the warm-up (granted, it wasn't a torturous warm-up last night). I did struggle with the 20 push-ups...yeah, I'm not exactly keeping up with that BBMC, am I? But the tsuki punches, the jodan uke, chudan uke, gedan uke...it was like I had never been gone. They just flowed naturally.

Kata? Well, let's just say I'm a little rusty. My turns were wobbly. My snap was non-existant. my shutos were atrocious. My kicks were severely lacking proper form. My timing was off. And that was on the kata I remembered! Well, there's always room for improvement, right? At least I know what I'll be working on in the coming months, while others are preparing for tournament.

Sensei-Hubby taught the kids during the 7pm class, and he borrowed me to assist him with some self-defense demonstrations. That was fun. We would demonstrate a technique and then he would have one child come up and perform the technique. The kids got to beat up on Yoshi Amber. They are good, though. I do not envy any would-be abductors who target these kids.

After the 7pm class, I opted to sit out of the 8pm class. I really felt like I needed to run kata on my own some more. So I went into an empty training room and ran kata, starting from the beginning of my knowledge base and going as far up as I know. I ran kata until I thought I was going to fall down dead. I also helped a yellow belt who had some questions about Heian Nidan.

Tuesday will be better. I can feel it.

Yeah! You're back!!! Going back after taking a break is rough. After having my little one, getting back in the saddle was especially rough because my center of balance had been different during the pregnant months. Everything had to be relearned. You'll be a pro again in another class or two.

Hi,
New here and wanted to say hi.
It is tough getting back into it after a break, but I'm sure you'll do great.:)
